There are over 750 castles in the UK, some barely recognizable as buildings anymore, others remaining as grand as the days that they were built and all unique in different ways. Some sites are simply marks in the ground or mottes and baileys bereft of any surviving structures. Whenever we’re on our travels round the country we seek out as many as we can and have currently visited over 200 castle sites in weird, wonderful, some slightly inaccessible and beautiful sites across the counties.
I offer cross-curricular projects based around the theme of castles to Primary age pupils as well as bringing in artefacts and antiquities for kids to handle.
