The fascination with miniature worlds has stayed with me since painstakingly putting together model kits as a young boy. I spent hours making up dioramas using figures and vehicles and creating sets using all manner of objects. This is a way of working that I’ve returned to more and more over the last few years and is yet another way of telling a story or making a statement using creative techniques other than writing.
I’ve found a huge number of other people who get massively excited about ‘small worlds’ in their varying shapes and forms. I’ve worked on several miniature commissions, particularly for The Royal Exchange Theatre as well as using the medium with various groups on projects.
